JERSEY SHORE - Guy E. Rogers, 84, of Jersey Shore and formerly of Sugar Valley, passed away on Monday August 22, 2016 at the Jersey Shore hospital.  Born February 11, 1932 in Nittany, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas and Annabelle (Showers) Rogers.  Guy graduated from Sugar Valley High School in 1951 and entered the US Air Force; he served from 1951 to 1955 as an Air Force Policeman.  He was stationed in England for 2 years and received the National Defense Service and Good Conduct Medals. On July 19, 1958, he married the love of his life Nancy (Fahringer) Rogers who survives and they had been blessed with 58 years of marriage. 

Guy was employed by Piper Aircraft for 28 years, Jersey Shore School Police for over 40 years, Jersey Shore Fire Police for almost 40 years. He was a former member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Jersey Shore.  Guy was a member of Union County Sportsman’s Club and a Life member of Independent Hose Company, Jersey Shore.  He was Cub Master of Pack 116 and had the honor of being awarded Cub Master of the year in 1974.  Guy enjoyed spending time with his family at his camp in Morris, enjoyed watching old Western shows on TV and taking care of his roses at his home.

In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by 4 sons, Guy Jr. “Skip” (Connie), of Roaring Branch, Charles (Kim) of Cogan Station, Myron and Robert of Jersey Shore, 11 grandchildren, Michael, Lee, David, Christopher, Charleanne,  Kamden, Kullen, Garren, Brenlynne, Nicole and Cindy and 6 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by 3 brothers, Clair of Centre Hall, Clyde of Lamar, and Elwood of Orlando, FL, a sister, Ella Rogers Quiggle of South Dakota.  Guy is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Guy was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles of Florida, Richard of Sugar Valley and 1 sister, Hazel of Tylersville, also a granddaughter, Cheyenne.

Guy’s funeral will be Friday, August 26, 2016 at 12:00 pm with a public visitation from 10 am to 12 pm.  Services will be held at the Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore. Mr. Ron Markle will officiate.  Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven with Independent Hose Fire Company and Military Honor Guard paying tribute to him.
