Lou Sibula

Licensed Funeral Director & Certified Celebrant

Lou has been an associate with Allen & Redmond Funeral Home since 2005. He is a licensed funeral director and serves families at our Rearick-Carpenter and James Maneval Funeral Home locations.

Originally from South Western Pennsylvania, he graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in September 1993. He worked in Pennsylvania from 1993 to 1999 when he moved to South Carolina, obtained his funeral director license there to work at a funeral home and was the head of the pre-need department.  In 2003 he decided to move back to Pennsylvania to be closer to family.  He started with Heffner Family Services in York then transferred to the Williamsport location where he has been ever since.  He enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.

Lou is also a Certified Celebrant. If you are not a member of a church or if you simply do not wish to have a religious service, he can help you. As a Certified Celebrant, Lou works with families to create a meaningful tribute that reflects the personality and life-style of the deceased. He received his training and certification from the In-Sight Institute.

Sherry recently joined the staff in September of 2015 at Rearick-Carpenter in Jersey Shore and James C. Maneval in Williamsport.  She was previously a School Secretary with the Jersey Shore School District retiring after almost 20 years.

It was always a dream of hers to be her son, Zach’s, Secretary so she decided to come out of retirement to work with him.  Her husband Ken is also one of our part time staff at Rearick-Carpenter working there for the past 13 years. 

She is really enjoying her new position and learning all there is to know about the funeral home business.  

Sherry and Ken have been married for 30 years and reside in Antes Fort with their Boxer, Molly, and their cat, Cali.

Zach was the son of Ken and Sherry (Baney) Pittenger of Antes Fort. He was married to his High School sweatheart, Kayla Strunk ,the daughter of Kent and Kim (Welker) Strunk of Avis. In May of 2015 they were blessed with a beautiful baby boy, Sylus. 

He was a member of the La Belle Valley Masonic Lodge #232 and the Jersey Shore Lions Club. Zach was a proud graduate of Jersey Shore Area High School. 

 After High School he studied in Business at Lock Haven University before going to Mortuary School at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Completing Mortuary School in 2012, he then returned back to his home town of Jersey Shore to fulfill his internship under James C. Carpenter, at Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home. He actually began working at the Funeral Home in 2007 as a part-time employee and had always aspired to become a Funeral Director.

 While supporting himself through school, Zach worked at Lingle’s Market in Jersey Shore where he held various positions such as cashier, produce manager and even worked his way up to becoming Assistant Store Manager. It is here that he spent 7 years building his basis for customer service and now serves his community in a more compassionate and dignified manner. 

He takes great pride in comforting our grieving families and being there for them in such a time of need. Zach  worked at Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home and served as supervisor of Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation & Funeral Home.

Zach passed in a tragic car accident on April 22, 2017.

Aftercare Associate

Our Funeral Homes we believe that our families need our care even after the day of your loved one’s funeral. Therefore, as an Extended Free Service, we have an aftercare program with Rev. Ken Weiss.

Rev. Weiss recently retired from full time ministry after almost 30 years as a pastor. He is now working with us to provide both aftercare services and pre-need services (common practice of people arranging and paying for funerals in advance in order to relieve their families of that stress during a most difficult time as well as being able to lock in current rates). Rev. Weiss is well familiar with helping people experiencing grief.

We believe that with this free extended service, we offer to our families a full package of services that are geared to help you at this most difficult time. We are including a brief introductory bio of Rev. Weiss, he also specializes in assisting families with preplanning services.

  • Coached AYSO soccer in town for 12 years
  • Past President of Orchestra Parents Association at the Williamsport High School
  • Served on the Board of Directors of United Churches of Lycoming County for almost 25 years
  • Has Life and Health Insurance Licenses. In addition, is licensed to sell Securities and Investments holding a Series 6, Series 63, and Series 65 License.

James Calvin Carpenter was born on October 18, 1947, near Hammondsport, NY on Lake Keuka.  Jim moved with his family to the farm near Ellisburg, PA at age five.  He graduated from Northern Potter High School in 1965 and attended Indiana University of PA and graduated Simmons Mortuary School in Syracuse, NY in at Fairfield and Meech Chapel in Syracuse, NY.  Jim was a licensed funeral director at Gray Funeral Home in Port Jervis, NY from 1969 until joining Bob Rearick in Jersey Shore in 1974 where he has been located ever since.  Jim's funeral directing career has spanned over 6 decades.  He currently counsels at Rearick Carpenter in Jersey Shore, Maneval Allen Redmond in Williamsport, Tussey Mosher in Wellsboro and Fickingers in Coudersport.  Jim has ben married for 48 years to the former Jolene Marie Chase of Ulysses and they have four children: William D., Dr. Nathan J., Amy L. Caseman, and Lucas C., along with eight grandchildren.  Over the years, Jim has been a member of the Antique and Classic Boat Society of Clayton, NY, Lions Club, Masonic Organizations in NY, Elks Lodge, Little League Baseball, and Pop Warner Football.  Jim enjoys antique boat restoration, music, meditation, hunting, fishing, theater, and visiting the "retreat" in Ellisburg, The Finger Lakes, The St. Lawrence, and Nashville, TN.

Gene is a native of Blossburg, PA.  He graduated from North Penn High School, Mansfield University with a B.S. Degree in Education and Pennsylvania State University with a Masters in Educational Administration.  Gene has 36 years of experience in education as a teacher in the Williamsport School District for 5 years and as principal and assistant superintendent in the Jersey Shore School District for 31 years.  After his retirement in 2002, Gene joined the support staff of the Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home.  Gene has resided in the Jersey Shore area since 1966.  He and his wife, Marilyn, have been married since 1969 and have two children and three grandchildren.  He is a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church.  He serves as chairman of the Mifflin Township Recreation Board.  He is currently employed by St. John Neumann Regional Academy as high school principal.  In his spare time, Gene and his wife enjoy traveling and spending time with family.

Harold has been a Jersey Shore resident his entire lifetime He had a 38 year career with Commonwealth Bank and retired in 1995; being vice-resident and department head for audit and security with the bank. He graduated from Jersey Shore High School and graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado and the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin and the Penna. Bankers School at Bucknell, Pa.  Harold also attended various banking schools across the country including Canada. He taught Pennsylvania Banking courses at Bucknell and Penn College.  Harold worked for Manevals and Rearick-Carpenter Funeral homes starting 1995 to current date. He was previously responsible for all autos at both locations.

Ken was born and raised in Jersey Shore, PA. Shortly after graduation, he joined the US Army in which he served for 28 years. He also worked in a manufacturing plant nearby for 38 years before retiring.Although retired, Ken has been extremely active in his community while serving on various boards in town--not the least of which is town council. He always wanted to give back to the town that gave him so much growing up. He also has been with Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home since the early 90's as a member of the support staff. He is also a dedicated member in his church along with his wife, Carol. They have been married since 1968 and have two children and four grandchildren.

Jolene was born April 1, 1948, she graduated in 1966 from Northern Potter High School; she  later graduated with a Standard Secretarial Degree from The Rochester Business Institute. Jolene  has been married to James Calvin Carpenter for 48 years, they have been together since being High School sweethearts.  Jolene, Jim and the family settled in Jersey Shore at Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home in 1974.  Jolene has done various jobs throughout her lifetime being a secretary, a Handicap Aide and has always been a part of the part-time staff at Rearick Carpenter.  Today she belongs to the Jersey Shore Garden Club and volunteers.  She enjoys attending the grandkids sporting events, choral concerts and musicals.  Jolene enjoys dancing, listening to all kinds of music, attending their son, Lucas, shows in Nashville TN and spending quality time with family and their Sheltie pup, Ayashee.

Ken has been a Jersey Shore resident for over 30 years and he graduated from the Jersey Shore Senior High School in 1982.  Upon graduation, Ken joined the US Army Reserves; he proudly served and retired after 20 years of service.  He has been employed for the past 8 years at Lock Haven University as a Trolley Driver for the students during the school year and maintenance during the summer. Ken is husband to, Sherry, Rearick Carpenter’s Office Manager; they have been married for 30 years. Ken is very proud to be able to work with his son, Zachary, Funeral Director with Rearick Carpenter and has been with the funeral home for 14 years.

Bob is a graduate of Jersey Shore Area High School and Penn State University where he majored in Business Administration. Upon graduation from college he served 4 years in the United States Navy.Bob enjoyed many years of being a pitcher for fast pitch softball in his hometown as well as in the Navy where he was fortunate to be able to travel to all of the Caribbean islands to play ball.  Bob was stationed for 2 years in Bermuda where he also played ball. Bob was known to many as “Whip”due to his famous pitch called the “goofy “pitch.Following honorable discharge from the Navy he began his career in banking where he worked for 35 years.  Bob began as a teller and retired as the Bank Manager for Sovereign Bank in the Jersey Shore office. Hehas been a member of the Jersey Shore Lion’s Club and the Jersey Shore Elks for more than 25 years.  Bob also served on the Civil Service Commission in his hometown. His hobbies include traveling, gardening, golfing and fishing.I have been married to my wife Lois for 19 years and have a son, Michael and two step-children Kim and Dan.  They have 5 grandchildren and 4 great children. Bob has lived in Jersey Shore all of his life.

Steve is a lifetime resident of Jersey Shore, graduating from the Jersey Shore Senior High School in 1966.  Steve retired from the Jersey Shore Steel Mill in 2010 after 45 years of service.  He has 2 children and 3 grandchildren.  Steve was a coach for many years for Jersey Shore Little League and Jr. Legion Ball Teams and is an active member of the Masons.  Steve has been with Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home for 11 years and is the part time Daytime Maintenance staff for the past 5 years.
