Willis B Merrifield

Willis “Bill” Merrifield, 97, of Pine Creek Township, Clinton County passed away Sunday June 11, 2023 at Geisinger Jersey Shore.  He was born in Clearfield, PA February 17, 1926, a son of Clifford and Effie (Hilton) Merrifield.  He was a World War II Veteran.  He married Doris J. Brown on July 29, 1967 who passed away July 13, 2018.  Bill was a traveling representative and field supervisor for Con-Rail for over 42 years.  He was an accomplished classical guitar player having performed early in his life at Carnegie Hall.  He was an amateur H.A.M.M. Radio enthusiast and enjoyed bicycling, boating, camping, animals and gardening.

His survivors include a son, Mark Merrifield of Germany along with several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He is further survived by two brothers, Terry Merrifield of Lewisburg and Danny Merrifield of California.  In addition to his wife Doris, he was predeceased by his daughter Willodean Merrifield, a step-son, Steven Shadick and two brothers, Clifford Merrifield and Dick Merrifield.

Bill’s life celebration graveside service will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. near the chapel at Rest Haven Memorial Park Woolrich.  His family suggest contributions be made to the Lycoming Animal Protection Society, 630 Wildwood Blvd, Williamsport, PA 17701.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home of Jersey Shore.  Please feel free to leave your fondest memories or condolences below.
