JERSEY SHORE - Ruthann (Winchester) Showers, 77, of Jersey Shore and Largo, FL, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020 at home in Florida with family by her side.
She was born in Lock Haven on November 6, 1942 and was the daughter of the late Harry and Rhea (Wagner) Winchester.
Ruthann was a retired bus driver from Marden’s Inc. in Jersey Shore. She enjoyed bingo, crocheting, reading and family gatherings.
She is survived by eight children; Leonard Winchester of Newport, James Showers of Jersey Shore, Troy Showers (Freda) of Jersey Shore, Roxanne Riggle of Lock Haven, Jessica Letterman (Mike) of Largo, FL, Michael Hopple (Nora) of Salladasburg, Douglas Hopple (Deb) of Jersey Shore and Jeffery Hopple of Trout Run, 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her companion; James Hopple, one grandchild, two brothers and a sister-in-law; Gene Winchester and Scott (Mary Lee) Winchester and two sisters and brother-in-law; Blanche (Norm) Wool and an infant sister.
There will be a gathering of family and friends 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore. There will be short time at 2 p.m. to have some sharing thoughts then burial will follow in Pine Cemetery, McElhattan. (Just a note that the cemetery sign states Stamm Cemetery)
Although Ruthann’s family does not wish to exclude anyone from her service or visitation, in light of the new Centers For Disease Control recommendation on limiting gatherings. Ruthann’s family suggests close friends and family use their judgment on attending her gathering.
