Robert "Bob" Moriarity Obituary

Robert B. Moriarity, a devoted husband, loving father, and respected member of the community, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2023, at the age of 87.


Born on September 18, 1936, in Phillipsburg, PA, Robert was the son of the late George and Violet (Gaines) Moriarity. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Phyllis (Keiler).


Bob led a fulfilling life filled with extraordinary achievements and cherished memories. He dedicated 21 years of his life to serving his country as a proud member of the US Army National Guard.  Bob worked as a Quality Control Supervisor at Kaverner while also serving in the National Guard. After a successful career, he retired at the age of 65.


Outside of his professional life, Bob had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He found solace and joy in nature, appreciating its beauty and tranquility. Additionally, he was an active member of the Waterville Fire hall and the 1000 Yard Bench Club, where he formed lifelong friendships and made significant contributions.


Bob’s commitment to his family was unwavering. He is survived by his children, Robert (Pam), Allan (Kathy), Donna (Barney) Penton, Sharon (Bernard) Haldeman, and Linda (Chuck) Baker. His legacy continues through his 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Doris, Lea, and George Jr.,  one great grandchild and a son-in-law.


A viewing for Robert will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 229 South Broad Street, Jersey Shore, PA 17740, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The service will commence at noon, officiated by Rev. Dr. Kerry Aucker. Following the service, a committal service will be held at the Jersey Shore Cemetery Chapel.


In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made in Robert's name to the church or a charity of your choice. These acts of kindness will honor his memory and continue his legacy of giving.


Robert B. Moriarity will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His unwavering love and dedication to his family, his commitment to serving his country, and his passion for the outdoors will forever remain etched in our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace.
