Richard D. Walker

Richard David Walker, 84, of Avis, PA passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Promedica Jersey Shore.

Richard was born September 4, 1938, in Westminster, MD. He was the son of the late Carroll G. Walker and Carrie A. (Wertz) Elseroad.  In September of 1961, he joined the United States Army in which he served for six years. Richard spent much of his career employed at Marden’s Inc in Jersey Shore. He had a love for automobiles and the outdoors. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 284 and the VFW Post 5859. 

Richard’s survivors include: a daughter, Heather (Daniel) Ellenberger of Forest Hill, MD.; grandson, Julius Ellenberger; companion, Nancy Davie of Avis; sister, Ruth (Carl) Rill of Hampstead, MD.; nephew Bradley (Tracey) Rill; Niece Kristen (Patrick) Reilly; great nephews, Tyler, Logan, Keegan, Vincent, Preston, and a great niece Molly.  Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his Stepfather, Walter Elseroad.

There will be a Celebration of Life held at the American Legion Post 200, 4600 Legion Lane, Hampstead, MD 21074, on Sunday, January 29, 2023 from 1-4 P.M. In Lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion Post 284, 3115 Woodward Avenue, Avis, PA 17721 or the American Heart Association at www.heart.org
