Richard L. Hunter, 92, of Indianapolis, passed away November 8, 2020. He was born March 2, 1928, in Jersey Shore, PA, to the late Gordon L. and Lillian E. Hunter. Richard was a 1946 graduate of Jersey Shore High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University. Richard married Helen E. Jackson, January 26, 1952, and she preceded him in death July 7, 2012. Richard was a computer programmer for Martin Marietta for many years, retiring in 1980. Prior to that, he was a chemical engineer for Westinghouse. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 11, 2020 from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Road. Richard is survived by his children, Kathryn L. Smith, Neal D. Hunter and Dean A. Hunter (Eva); and grandchildren, Christopher R. Smith, Sean R. Smith, Mackenzie M. Hunter, Dani J. Hunter, Sarah J. Hunter, Alyssa M. Hunter and Charles Holtz III. A sister, Lois Spinney, preceded him in death.
