WILLIAMSPORT - Pastor Larry E. Siikanen, 59, went to his eternal home in Heaven on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was married to the former Sharon L. (Thompson), who survives, on December 18, 1983 and they have shared 38 years as husband and wife.
Larry was born on July 7, 1962 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and was the son of the late Waino E. and Joyce A. (Walters) Siikanen. Larry had graduated from High School, Grand Rapids, Minnesota and had obtained his Master’s Degree from Wesley Theological Seminary. He also had served with the US Navy. Larry was most recently the pastor at First United Methodist Church and Phelps Chapel, Jersey Shore. He also was a member of the United Methodist Susquehanna Conference. In his spare time, he enjoyed wood working. He had also enjoyed many mission trips to numerous states to help with home repairs and flood recovery.
In addition to his wife Sharon, he is survived by one son; Scott E. Siikanen (Kirstyn) of Northumberland, one brother; Patrick Siikanen (Sherry) of Grand Rapids, Minnesota and one sister; Kathy Metzger (Doug) of Grand Rapids, Minnesota. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister; Claudia Johnson.
There will be a public visitation 3 – 5 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church, 236 S. Main St., Jersey Shore where the funeral will begin at 5:00 p.m. A longtime friend, Pastor James Lewis, will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or Phelps Chapel.
