Mary E. (Henry) Sorgen

Mary E. (Henry) Sorgen, 97, passed away Sunday evening April 16, 2023 at the Lock Haven Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.  She was born in Anthony Township, Lycoming County the daughter of Abram A. and Grace Irene (Cohick) Henry.  She was the graduate of Lock Haven High School and was married for 65 years to Donald Eugene Sorgen who passed away in 2012. 

Mary was employed in the sewing room of Woolrich for several years retiring in the early 1980’s.  She was a faithful member of the Lycoming Christian Church.  She enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening, knitting and spending time at her camp she and her husband Don built up in Pine Creek. 

Mary’s survivors include her 4 grandsons: Dennis, Jr. (Jennifer) ­­of Lock Haven, Chris of Florida, Kevin (Donna) of Jersey Shore and David (Andrea) of Lock Haven; two step grandsons, Rusty and Andy Weaver of Lock Haven; daughter in law Mary Jo Sorgen of Lock Haven and her former daughter in law Virginia Sorgen Miller of Lock Haven.  She had seven great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by 2 sons, Stephen and Dennis, along with 5 brothers, David, Donald, Martin, Leonard and James. 

Mary’s Life Tribute Service will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 11:00am from the Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home 1002 Allegheny Street Jersey Shore, PA with Pastor Ryan Martin Officiating.  Interment will follow in the Woodward Township Cemetery in Emery’s.  Visitation will be held for family and friends from 10:00 to 11:00am at the Funeral Home on Friday. Her family suggests that contributions be made to the Lycoming Christian Church 20 Chapel Hill Road Linden, PA 17744.
