Lauretta A. (Dufferd) Hummer

Lauretta A. (Dufferd) Hummer, 100, of Lock Haven, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020 at Susque View Home, Lock Haven. She was born in State College on Feb. 13, 1919 to the late Sam Rudy and Lottie Dufferd.

Lauretta was a member of Pine Creek Valley Christian Church. She worked as a press operator at West Co. She enjoyed square dancing and loved to play cards. Lauretta went on many Caribbean cruises and liked to go camping. Her greatest treasure was her family.

Lauretta is survived by four sons, Edward (Joan) Saar, Williamsport, Allen L. (Janice) Saar, Avis, William E. (Judy) Saar, Lock Haven, and David Saar, Lock Haven; a daughter, Mary (Raymond) Prince, Jersey Shore; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 37 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Lauretta is preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer E. Saar, her second husband, James Hummer, a son, Freddy Saar, a stepdaughter, Pat Smith, a grandson, William E. Saar, Jr., and a very special aunt, Esther Dufferd.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at Pine Creek Valley Christian Church, 26 Locomo Lane, Jersey Shore, with Pastor Ron Savits officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Tuesday from 10-11am at the church. Burial will follow at Jersey Shore Cemetery.
