JERSEY SHORE - John P. Eck, 59, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the Gatehouse after a courageous battle with cancer. His family was by his side.
He was the son of Carol L. (Wenner) Eck of Jersey Shore and the late Daniel J. Eck, Sr. who passed away in 2005.
John served his country in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1984. He often, fondly told stories of the time he spent in Germany and was forever on a quest for authentic German cuisine.
Having a zest for life and the outdoors, John loved to hunt, fish and to walk trails through the woods and on his property. He was an avid animal and wildlife lover and enjoyed his many visitors that would come into his yard at his beloved farm.
John was a passionate “foodie” who was an incredible cook and baker. He was often making deliveries to friends and family of soups and beautiful fruit pies. Many of his creations were cooked on his woodstove. He enjoyed growing and harvesting his own fruits and vegetables, homesteading and canning.
John Loved music, particularly outlaw country, southern and classic rock. He was self-taught and played guitar.
