Grace Marks Obituary

Grace E. Marks, 89, of Jersey Shore, passed away peacefully at home with her family on Tuesday evening, December 31, 2019.  Born Grace Eileen Graham, on October 26, 1930 in Jersey Shore, she was the third daughter of the late Harvey and Cora Graham.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William L. Marks Jr., with whom she shared 41 years of marriage. They wed in 1946 after “Bill” was discharged from the Navy, having had a pen pal relationship during the war.  The couple were married at St. John’s Lutheran Church and remained active members there during their lifetimes. She was a lady of strong faith and loved her “church family”.

Grace is survived by her daughter, Debi Kay (Bud) Haddad, Jersey Shore; and her son, William R. Marks of Las Vegas, Nevada; two beloved grandchildren, Casey Jay (Tiffany) Haddad of Valencia, PA; and Coty Lynne (Greg) McCloskey of Jersey Shore.  “Nan” as she was known also adored her three great-grandsons, Kyle Joseph and Landon Jarret Haddad of Valencia, PA and Clark Emerson McCloskey of Jersey Shore. She was their biggest fan at their Little League games.

Grace lived her life with a smile. She was an avid reader and sports fan, especially Penn State football. She loved caring for her home and family — sharing marvelous meals and memories around the table were her greatest joy and no one ever left hungry! Grace enjoyed her family adventures, time spent at the cabin, camping, hiking and traveling around the country. She was in 49 states, missing her goal by one, never making a trip to Hawaii. She had four dachshund fur-babies in her life; she loved her “Pups” and everyone else's for that matter, always carrying an extra “Scooby snack” in her pocket.

She had a great adoration for her siblings and was preceded in death by her three sisters, Dorothy Packard, Thelma Hill, Helen Daugherty and her brother, John Graham.

She will be deeply missed by family and friends.

The family will provide the flowers. Donations in Graces name may be made to, St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church at 229 S. Broad St., Jersey Shore, PA 17740.
