Obituary
Doris Marie (Miller) Baney, 84, formerly of Sugar Valley and Antes Fort passed away early Monday morning February 27, 2023 in Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital after fighting a brave 10 year battle with CREST Syndrome.
She was born February 11, 1939 in Sugar Valley a daughter to Ellery Alfred and Alice Elizabeth (Showers) Miller. She was a graduate of Sugar Valley High School. During her life she was employed at Woolrich Woolen Mills and retired from Glamorize July 31, 2010 after 14 years of employment where she was head of quality control. She enjoyed western movies, listening to country music and reading, especially murder mysteries. She collected figurines and teddy bears. She was known for her fabulous baked beans and cold lettuce salad. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family.
Doris’ survivors include: daughter, Sherry B. Pittenger (Ken) of Antes Fort; sons, Jerry E. Baney, Jr. (Sharon) of Linden and Steven D. Baney (Deb) of Antes Fort; Seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Joshua), Jamie (Bryan), Amanda, Megan, Kody, Jeremy and David; Great grandchildren, Isaiah (Grace), Peyton, Elijah, Sylus, Aubree, Seneca, Lizzy, Carl, Sailor and Natalie, along with two Brothers Dean A. Miller and Dale W. Miller. She was preceded in death by three sisters; Evelyn Meixel, Mary Lou Herlocher and Betty Myers; two brothers, Kenneth J. Miller and Robert Miller; a grandson, Zachary J. Pittenger and a grandson-in-law Mark T. Lamey.
Doris’ Life Celebration will be held Thursday, March 2, 2023 at the Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore, PA 17740 with Pastor Kenneth Guisewite officiating. There will be a public viewing from 10:00-11:00am with services beginning at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Loganton. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org/give
