Dennis J. "Poppi" Hill

Dennis J. Hill, known affectionately as Poppi by everyone else, passed away peacefully at home on June 26th, 2023, in Jersey Shore, PA.  He was born in Newton, NJ son of Elmer Hill and Harriett (Williams) Hill on July 8th, 1941.  At the time of his passing, he was 81 years old.

Dennis worked in New Jersey at West Company before moving to Pennsylvania in 1985 to work as a QA Manager at West Pharmaceutical in Montgomery for 35+ years.  Outside of work, he had a variety of interests including golfing, hunting, fishing, bowling and when his wife was still alive, traveled all over the United States.

If you wanted to find poppi in his later years, he would be found at a football, baseball, basketball, soccer or softball game watching his two grandchildren Ronnie and Amanda rooting them on.   He never missed a practice or a game for either of them he was their biggest fan.

Dennis is preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Roger Hill, and wife Marion (Day) Hill.  Dennis married his wife Marion on March 23, 1963, they would have been married 60 years this year. 

He is survived by his daughter Kimberly A. (Ron) Ergott, grandchildren Ronnie and Amanda Ergott, a brother Allen (Ruth) Hill from Florida, sister Sharon Straway from New Jersey, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews and his side kick dog (Moose).

Services for Dennis will be held at the convenience of the family and burial will take place at Woolrich Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to Kelly McCahan for her love and support taking care of Dennis and UPMC hospice.

Dennis will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on forever in the hearts of those he touched throughout his life.
