Darla J. "Jean" (Myers) Stewart

AVIS - Darla J. “Jean” (Myers) Stewart, 76, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Geisinger Hospital, Jersey Shore.

She was married on January 4, 1971 to John C. “Jack” Stewart, Jr., who survives and they would have shared 51 years of marriage in January.

Darla was born on December 15, 1945 in Jersey Shore and was the daughter of the late John H. and Ella R. (Edwards) Myers, Sr.  She graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1964.  In addition to her being a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Jersey Shore and enjoyed bingo, crossword puzzles and playing candy crush.

In addition to her husband “Jack”, she is survived by one son; Ralph K. Confair, Jr. of Lock Haven, three daughters; Rhonda J. Rhea (Phillip) of Avis, Lannette K. Garms (Victor) of Jersey Shore and Elizabeth M. Bilbay (Brian) of Avis, 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, three sisters; Victoria Hill (David) of Linden, Jo Ann Zerby of Wysox and Dorothy Collier of Alabama and many nieces and nephews.  In addition, she had raised several foster children and grandchildren including David W. Roupp (Lori) of Avis, John C. Stewart of Avis and Brent T. Painter of Avis.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings; John H. Myers, Jr., David Myers, Daniel Myers and Rose E. Hill.

There will be a public viewing 9 – 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore where the funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Pastor Mark Riley will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in Jersey Shore Cemetery.
