Daniel Ergott Obituary

A beautiful boy who did no wrong,  (according to our gram), was born on Sept 23rd 1948 to Lowell  Ergott (who passed in 2017) and (Lois) Jean Ergott.   There was no one quite like Danny, (mainly because his parents couldn't handle more than one of him). He loved family, hunting, sports, ice cream, and animals. If you had a dog he would probably befriend you, but to be around your dog.   In 1967 he married his lifelong love and wife, Mary Ellen (Munro) Ergott. Who will someday be known as "Saint Mary Ellen "(no explanation needed). Dan and Mary Ellen have two daughters, Beth (Bob) Cowfer, and Karen (Tom) Jodun. Five beautiful Granddaughters, Brittany Bardo, Danielle Jodun, Rebecca Jodun, Kayla Horning, and Francesca Cowfer, a wonderful Grandson, Brett Kepler, and seven Greats, Auron, Cambree, Carter, Aubrey, Landon, Grant, and Nevaeh.   He was a strong, hardworking, wonderful provider who was employed at Hammermill Paper Co before going on to work and retire from Penn Dot. And also a loving, caring, son, husband, dad, and pap who would hold us, try not to cry with us, break down walls or build them higher to protect us. He always knew what was best for everyone and was definitely going to share it.   Dan had given 55 yrs as a Volunteer Fireman to the Avis Fire Dept and his community.  Spending countless hrs saving others from fire, accidents, search and rescue, and taming the hot sausage demons that crept into town every Memorial day through the first week of June.(if you know, you know) At home he was our personal hero, saving us from multiple living room plane crashes, the boogie man, boys, and from being to big for our britches! He taught us to be independent and stand up for ourselves, he was proud of his girls and grandchildren and would brag to others, and in an occasional moment of weakness, to us. We may not know everyone, but they certainly know that we are "Dan Ergott's daughters!"   On Feb 27th 2023 Dan left his family suddenly and peacefully, the way he wanted. We believe in our hearts he has gone to again be with his best friend and father. Good luck Pap!!! We tried, he's all yours until we are together again.   We all have our Dan, Danny, Dad, pap, memories. Good or bad, happy or sad,(don't tell me you didn't just sing that!) that we cherish and hope you will share.   We love you so much and more, and will miss you like crazy.
