William J. Martz, Sr., 89, of Jersey Shore, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025. Born on June 9, 1936, in Upper Paxton Township to the late Daniel and Eva (Starr) Martz, William lived a fulfilling life enriched by his family, work, and many passions.
William spent his professional years as a dedicated Heavy Equipment Salesman for Eagle Construction. His work reflected his commitment and strong work ethic, earning him respect and admiration from colleagues and clients alike.
Beyond his career, William nurtured a love for woodworking, fishing, and hunting. He was a devoted football fan, always cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Football. His green thumb was evident in the beautifully tended gardens he so loved. An avid traveler, William cherished exploring new places, yet nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by his beloved family.
Along with his parents, William is preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth (Novak) Martz, his son William J. Martz, Jr., his step-daughter Barbara Pugh, and his brother Frederick Martz.
William leaves behind his loving wife Rachel (Jones) Martz, who stood by him in his later years. His memory will be cherished by his daughters Eva (Jake) Paulhamus and Lisa (Jason) Kormanic; step-son Edward (Cathy) Whitman; step-daughter Patty (Todd) Badman; and step-son-in-law Lee Pugh. He is also survived by his sister Evelyn Bachman, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom he cherished deeply.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in William's honor by Reverend Father William Corcoran on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, located at 5973 Jacks Hollow Rd., Williamsport, PA 17702. There will be a luncheon held in the reception hall of Immaculate Conception Church following the burial ceremony.
William will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
