Wesley S. Mayes, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, in Danville at the age of 74. Wesley was born on January 12, 1952, in Jersey Shore, to the late Harry and Maryanna (Ohl) Mayes.
For 25 years, Wesley contributed his skills and expertise as an engine builder at Lycoming Engines, where he was known for his hard work and commitment. Beyond his professional endeavors, Wesley had a deep love for golf, and spent countless hours on the green, perfecting his swing and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow golfers. In earlier years, he also enjoyed participating in a bowling league.
Wesley's heart was always with his family, and he cherished the times he spent with them, especially his grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life. A devoted fan of Penn State Football, Wesley never missed a game and supported his team with unwavering enthusiasm.
He is preceded in death by his parents. Wesley leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife, Wanda S. (Flook) Mayes; his son, Jonathan Mayes, and wife Kayla; his daughter, Brandy Mayes; his cherished grandchildren, Travis Bashista and wife Marissa, Breia Mayes, Alyssa Bashista, Isrealla Mayes, Esra Mayes, Elia Mayes, and Ezia Mayes; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Harper Bashista, Giddeon Bashista, Axel Pool, and Artemis Pool. Wesley is also survived by a sister, Christine Brown.
In accordance with Wesley's wishes, services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, located at 1002 Allegheny St, Jersey Shore, PA. Wesley will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
