LOCK HAVEN - Russell W. "Russ" Umstead, Jr., 89, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Russ was married on February 12, 1983 to the former Linda S. (Billman), who survives, and they would have shared 43 years of marriage in February.
Russ was born on January 12, 1936 in Limestone Twp. and was a son of the late Russell W. and Mary (Bortz) Umstead. He had worked at Cohicks Meats, Jersey Shore Borough, Piper Aircraft and then Penn College, where he retired as Director of Purchasing. He was a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jersey Shore where he was very active. He was a family involved man who enjoyed fishing with the family in Canada at their cottage, hunting and shooting at the range in Little Pine.
In addition to his wife Linda, he is survived by one son; Scott L. Umstead (Sue) of Williamsport, two daughters; Debra L. Uhlick (James) of Andover, NJ and Gail L. Shadle (Christopher) of Sanger, TX, four grandchildren; Russell Campbell (Kenazia), Nicholas Umstead (Ritu), Rhiannon Burnett (Jesi) and Mikhala Umstead, five great-grandchildren and three sisters; Patricia Fulkrod of Rauchtown, Nancy Kowalski and Shirley Walker, both of Jersey Shore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers; Charles and Gary Umstead and his first wife; Jacqueline (Fulkrod).
There will be a gathering of family and friends 10 – 11 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2026 at the St. Johns Evangelical Church, 229 South Broad St., Jersey Shore, PA 17740 where the memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Kerry Aucker as officiant. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church or to a charity of one's choice.
Arrangements are being handled by Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Jersey Shore.
