Ronald J. Confer, affectionately known as Ron, 78, of Jersey Shore, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024, at UPMC Williamsport. He was born on August 30, 1945, in Antes Fort to the late Samuel Lincoln and Pheobie Melissa (Tomb) Confer. He was the youngest of 12 brothers and sisters.

Ron was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent his career performing body work at various garages in the area and later at the Jersey Shore Steel Mill until he retired. Outside of his professional life, Ron had a love for the great outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending cherished moments at the cabin. He also enjoyed playing cards and, above all, treasured the time spent with his family.

On June 28, 1969, Ron married the love of his life, JoAnn Prince. The couple recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary, a testament to their enduring love and commitment. Towards the end of his life, Ron made the profound decision to give his life and heart to Christ. This joyous decision brings peace to his family, knowing they will one day reunite with him in heaven.

In addition to his parents, Ron is preceded in death by his sisters, Dora Getchen, Helen McFarland, and Edith Felmy; and his brothers, Robert, Samuel "Tink," Jack, Guy, and Albert "Coon" Confer.

He is survived by his loving wife, JoAnn; his son, Toby (Erika) Confer of Avis; and his daughter, Brandi (Craige) Conklin of Oriole. Ron was a proud grandfather to Kyle Confer, Tanner (Haylee) Conklin, Megan Confer, Mackenzie Conklin, Johnathan Hamm, and Adryenne Confer, a doting great-grandfather to Wilson Confer, Elias Hamm, and Kensleigh Bennett. He also leaves behind three siblings, Edna Morse, William and Dean Confer; and many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

A memorial service to honor Ron's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Oriole Methodist Church, 32 Main Rd., Jersey Shore, with Pastor Jeff Howell officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Ron's name to Oriole Methodist Church at 32 Main Rd., Jersey Shore, PA 17740.
