LOCK HAVEN - Rhoda L. Truax, 82, of Lock Haven, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at The Gatehouse.  Born in Lock Haven, March 17, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Clifton H. and Ruth M. (Dullen) Bropst.  Rhoda married Lawrence E. Truax, Sr. on November 15, 1952, they shared 64 years of marriage.

Rhoda was a housewife who devoted her life to raising her family.  For a while she drove school bus, taking her youngest daughter with her each day on her bus runs. She enjoyed crocheting and canning.  Rhoda often loved to stop and get an ice cream treat from the nearby Dairy Queen.  She enjoyed listening to gospel music, watching the hummingbirds outside the picture window and traveling; but most of all she enjoyed relaxing and watching TV with Lawrence and taking their daily afternoon naps together.  One of her very favorite pastimes was chatting on the phone with her family and friends.  Rhoda loved to worship the Lord and was a member of the Cornerstone Faith Church, Jersey Shore.

Rhoda is survived by her loving husband, Lawrence, Sr. 3 sons, Lawrence E. (Helen) Truax, Jr. of Beech Creek, David H. (Jean) Truax, of Lock Haven and Nathan L. (Andrea) Truax, of Lock Haven, 2 daughters, Linda R. Gower, of Lock Haven and Sharon M. (Kenneth) Kinney of Jersey Shore, a sister Katherine C. Reiter, Sinking Springs, PA. and 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, a son in law, Neil Gower and a grandson,  James Michael Benner.

A public visitation will be held Sunday, January 15, 2017, 6-8 pm and Monday, January 16, 2017 10-11 am with a funeral service to follow at 11 am at the Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore, with Jeff Pennycoff and Rebecca Logan officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
