ALLENWOOD - Reverend Charles L. Brooks, 83, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016.
Reverend Brooks, son of the late Ernest and Peggy Brooks, was born on September 15, 1932 in Jersey Shore.
Charles is survived by his wife Mary (Betty) Everly Brooks. They were married on July 1, 1951 and recently observed their 65th wedding anniversary. Additionally, Charles is survived by three sons and a daughter, David (Jennifer) of Rockwall, TX, Steven of Hughesville, Daniel (Susan) of Lock Haven, and Merilee (Gary) of Montoursville. Charles is survived by 10 grandchildren, Cyndi, Janelle, Natalie, Nevin (Amy), Bryan, Evan, Abigail, Kelsi, Micah, Trevor, and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, E. Byron (Martha) of Jersey Shore and Gale (Patsy) of Avis. In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by one granddaughter, Karen.
Charles was a graduate of Jersey Shore Area schools and the Practical Bible Training School, Johnson City, NY. He served three pastorates, Bentley Creek Baptist Church, Gillett, Lambs Creek Bible Church, Mansfield, and Anthony Baptist Church, Jersey Shore. Additionally, Charles worked at Susquehanna Distributing and Storage and retired from General Cable, both of Montoursville.
Services will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016. Charles will be laid to rest at Jersey Shore Cemetery at 9:00 AM followed by visitation at 10 – 11 a.m. and celebration of life services at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Elimsport, Allenwood. Pastor Todd Baker and Dr. David Brooks, officiating.
Memorial gifts may be given to First Baptist Church of Elimsport, 16838 State Route 44, Allenwood, PA 17810.
Arrangements are being handled by the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd., 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore.
