Raymond “Ray” Kozen, 82, of Jersey Shore, went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born March 17, 1944, in Trevorton, Ray was the son of the late Wallace G. Sr. and Isabelle (Cheatle) Kozen.
Ray was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He shared 47 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Jeannine P. (Sweitzer) Kozen. Together they built a family and a life filled with love, memories, and countless adventures.
Ray will be deeply missed by his wife, Jeannine; his sons, Raymond, Jr. (Danielle) of Manchester, Christopher (Tracey) of Texas, and Shane (Jill) of Montoursville; his sisters Margaret Gottschall, Louise Brown, and Jean Blee; and his son-in-law, Andrew Young, Sr.
He was a proud grandfather to Andrew Young, Jr. (Cristen Post), Ashley Weiss (Ryan), Stacey Morton, Angela Kozen, Kirsten Richards (Brandon), and Raymond “RJ” Kozen; and to his step-grandchildren, Preston Rauhauser (Shelby) and Braden Rauhauser (Kylee). His joy continued through his great-grandchildren, Abbey Young, Riley, Aiden and Sadie Ritter, Loraine Morton, Nova and Maizee Richards, and his step-great-grandchildren, Kevin and Alex Larry, Gannon and Eevee Richards, and Myles and Riley Rauhauser. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his infant son, Michael John Kozen; his daughter, Susan (Kozen) Young; his brothers, Wallace G. Kozen, Jr., James Kozen, and Richard “Rick” Kozen; his sisters, Joan Oliver, Isabel Best, Dolores Peterson, Marie Bernadette Miller, Dorothy Waltz, Maryann Kozen, and Lucille Stills; and his great-granddaughter, Ellianna Hinston.
Ray had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the simple joys of life. He enjoyed photography, bird watching, hiking, hunting, and fishing. He was also an avid Penn State football and NASCAR fan. His interests reflected his curiosity, adventurous spirit, and love for being outdoors and experiencing life.
He was a longtime member of St. James Lutheran Church in Rauchtown and was involved with several organizations that reflected his love of nature, history, and the outdoors, including the Lycoming Audubon Society, LeRoy Heritage Historical Society, Jersey Shore Historical Society, NRA, and the Alpine Club of Williamsport.
More than anything, Ray loved his family. His greatest legacy is not found in the things he accomplished or the places he visited, but in the people he loved and the family he helped build. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to be cherished by generations to come.
Ray’s earthly race is finished, but his story continues in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He is now at peace and in the presence of the Lord, reunited with those who went before him.
A public viewing will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore.
