Obituary

Margaret R. (Baier) Surfield, fondly known as Peggy, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, in Williamsport, at the age of 77.  Born on March 6, 1948, in Jersey Shore, Peggy lived a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories.

Peggy dedicated many years of her life to working in the manufacturing business, bringing her steadfast spirit and passion to everything she did.  Outside of work, she was an avid enthusiast of puzzles, reveling in the challenge posed by jigsaws, crosswords, and word finds.  Her love for these challenges was equaled by her enjoyment of visiting flea markets and car shows with her late husband, Jack.

Gardening was another of Peggy's passions, and she took great pride in growing vegetables and adorning her home with beautiful flowers.  Above all, Peggy treasured the times spent visiting her children, always embracing the joy of family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Edmund J. and Ada E. (Wiseman) Baier, and her brothers, Edmund Baier and Dan Baier.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, John Husler Surfield; daughter, Heather A. Sweeney and her husband Robert; and grandson, Trevor Surfield.  Peggy's legacy of warmth and loving spirit is carried on by her loving sisters: Anne Kingsbury, Judy Thomas and her husband George, Joy Stetts and her husband Frank, Nancy Stetts, Louise Barnhart and her husband Harvey, and Edith Sones and her husband Randy.  She is also survived by her loving brothers: Jim Baier and his wife Pat, Bob Baier and his wife Patty, Ray Baier and his wife Tammy, Ken Baier and his wife Lori, Fran Baier and his wife Deb, Bill Baier and his wife Val, Fred Baier and his wife Les, and sister-in-law, Gail Baier, along with many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

In keeping with Peggy's wishes, a private funeral service and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore, PA.  Please feel free to leave condolences or share fond memories for the family at www.rearickcarpenter.com.

Peggy will be remembered for her unwavering love, her infectious joy for life, and the cherished memories she leaves behind in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
