Young
June 17, 1916 – May 12, 2016
LINDEN - John H. Young, 99,went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 12, 2016. John was born on June 17, 1916, a son of the late George G. and Lulu (Bardoe) Young at their home in Level Corner, Piatt Township. He was married to Mildred Schumacher Young in 1941 who passed away in 2007. They were married for 66 years.
John graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1934 and went on to graduate from Practical Bible Training School in New York in 1938.
John lived in Linden and Jersey Shore all his life except for a brief time in Fresno, California in the 1940's where he trained at New Tribes Missions in hopes of becoming a missionary. But God had other plans for him and his family. He returned to Pennsylvania to raise his family, working for many years for Dixon A C and R where he retired from.
He loved to fix things, build things and tinker. He loved clocks and built two grandfather clocks, the last one constructed when he was 91 years young!
John's church and church family were a very important part of his life. He was a member of Calvary Baptists Church his entire adult life. His love of electronics led him to become the "sound man" at the church for many decades.
John's belief in Jesus and his unwavering faith in God's Word defined his life. He was humble, kind, caring and a joy to be around. He was loved and respected by family and friends alike.
He loved a funny joke and was often found cutting out and collecting jokes, funny sayings and cartoons. In his later years, he loved to do crossword puzzles and cryptograms.
