AVIS - John G. Asper, 76, of Avis, went to be with his Lord, Monday, September 5, 2016. He was born in Lock Haven on March 19, 1940, the son of John B. and Grace (Uffelman) Asper. John and his loving wife, Vicki (Young) were married June 28, 1986 and were blessed with 30 years of marriage.
John was in the car sales business for 27 years, working for Candor Buick Auto and Don Breon Ford. In his earlier years he owned and operated his own logging business, worked for the forestry department as a forest fire warden for 20 years, the Artic Cat dealership, and Asperline Log Homes. John loved working in his yard, gardening, canning his own produce, cooking and baking. All his family loved his chocolate chip cookies. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and had a true passion for the pine creek valley. He enjoyed riding through the mountains just taking in the sights. John dearly loved his wife, family and his dog Lady. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and spending time with his family was important to him.
John is survived by his loving wife, Vicki , 4 daughters Cynthia Rainey (Dan) of Lock Haven, Carole Mahosky (Rod) of English Center, Virginia Freemole (Tom) of Granger, IN and Candace Confer (Dean) of Lock Haven; 10 grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Skye, Anthony, Lindsay, Zach, Maggie, Jaime, Megan, Zain; 16 great-grandchildren; Nate, Kodi, Josh, Tristen, Kira, Maceon, Trinity, Peyton, Chaelyn. Isabella, Layla, Olivia, Grady, Bryson, Collin and Axton. He is also survived by 1 brother, William Asper and his Mother-in-Law, Beulah Young.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Joni Marie Asper, 2 brothers Walter (Bud) Asper and Paul Asper, 3 sisters, Betty Larson, Lois Hibbler, Grace Kruhoffer.
A public visitation will be Sunday, September 11, 2016 from 11 am to 2 pm at Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
