JERSEY SHORE - Joann May Herman passed away Monday, January 18, 2016 at Manor Care in Jersey Shore.  She was born on May 26, 1931 in Jersey Shore. Her parents were Michael Francis May and Marguerite (Kable) May.

Joann married Kenneth L. Herman, who survives, March 18, 1951.  They shared 64 years of marriage.

Joann graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1948, Lock Haven University in January 1953 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Penn State University with a Master's Degree in Elementary Education in May 1961.

Joann taught in the Jersey Shore Area Schools for 35 years.  She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Jersey Shore.  For many years as a member of Phelps Chapel and Oriole United Methodist churches she taught Sunday School and was a church pianist.

In addition to her husband, Kenneth, she is survived by a daughter, Kay Joyce Herman

of Warren OH and a son, Reverend Dr. Karl (Dustie) Herman of Shermans Dale, and two grandchildren Sophia and Logan.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 11:30 AM at the Trinity United Methodist Church 1407 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore, PA  17740.  A public viewing will be at the church from 10:30 -11:30 prior to the service. Pastor Helen Learn will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org or to the Trinity United Methodist Church, Jersey Shore.
