JERSEY SHORE - Jennie C."Mathis" Hughes, 84, of Jersey Shore, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2015 at the Gatehouse, Williamsport.

She was born June 13, 1931 in Pleasantville, NJ, the daughter of the late Claude and Nellie "Rorer" Mathis.

Jennie was married to John Hughes, who survives; they were married September 23, 2000.  She retired from Stockton College, Pomona, NJ, where she worked as a custodian.

She was a member of the McElhattan United Methodist Church. Jennie enjoyed scrapbooking and crafting.  She had a true passion for collecting bears, she and her husband loved to travel anywhere and everywhere in search of finding treasures to add to her collection.

In addition to her husband, Jennie is survived by 2 brothers George Mathis and John Mathis both of New Jersey, 2 sisters Hilda Mathis of Ohio and Nellie Duke of West Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Harry Bozarth, and 1 brother Claude Mathis.

A memorial service will be held at the McElhattan United Methodist Church, 502 McElhattan Drive, McElhattan on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the church in memory of Jennie at PO Box 60, McElhattan, PA 17748.
