JERSEY SHORE - Janice L. Fravel, 77, of 35 Pinewood Drive, Jersey Shore, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 surrounded by her family at home.

She was born October 21, 1938 in Jersey Shore, PA, the daughter of the late Frank and Zoe (Russel) Mescol of Philadelphia.  On October 11, 1958 she married Harold B. Fravel who survives.  Janice was an active member of various churches and currently a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Jersey Shore.

She was past president of the Jersey Shore Garden Club, served on the Boards of Salvation Army and Christian Women's Club in Williamsport.  She and her husband taught various Bible Studies in Church's and in their home.  They organized Child Evangelism classes for children including youth programs in their church and she also taught classes for the deaf.

Janice was employed at Jefferson Medical College School of Nursing in Philadelphia.  In Williamsport she was executive secretary for Alcan Cable and Commonwealth Bank.  Her greatest occupation was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She loved cooking, oil painting, and entertaining in her home.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, a daughter, Laura J. Kontinakis of Bloomington, MN, 2 sons, Harold B. Fravel, III (Denise) of Lancaster County and David M. Fravel (Stephanie) of Woolrich.  There are 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of her family.

Family and Friends are invited to a memorial celebration of Janice's life at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1407 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore on Saturday, April 16, 2016.  A public visitation will be from 9-11 am followed by the memorial service to begin at 11 am.  Her pastor, Rev. Helen M. Learn, will officiate.  A luncheon will be held at the church following the service.
