Haight
March 2, 1926 – October 23, 2016
Homer E. Haight, 90, of Jersey Shore, passed away Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016 at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center. He was born on March 2, 1926 in Woolrich, the son of Walter and Sara (Smithgall) Haight.
Homer joined the United States Navy in 1944 and served in WWII upon the USS Rushmore (LSD14). He achieved many medals during his time served. On October 17, 1947, he married Lois E. Kline and they celebrated 61 years of marriage until her passing in 2008. Homer had been employed at Piper Aircraft, as a supervisor for over 30 years. He was a member of the Lycoming Christian Church. Homer enjoyed hunting and was very musically talented, being able to play any instrument; he had been a member of a country western band.
Homer is survived by 2 sons, Alan "Butch" (Sandra) Haight of Watsontown, Nelson Haight, of Lock Haven, 2 daughters, Mary Slaugenwhite of Jersey Shore and Barb (Dave) Ossont, both of Jersey Shore; he is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Homer was predeceased by 2 brothers and 6 sisters and his son-in-law, Leslie Slaugenwhite.
