JERSEY SHORE - H. Philip Keller, 91, of Jersey Shore, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Jersey Shore Hospital. Born, March 8, 1925, in Pine Creek, PA he was the son of the late Henry and Jesse (Miller) Keller.
Philip was married to the love of his life on June 26, 1948 to Marie E. (Patri) and together they shared 68 years of marriage. He served in the US Army and was employed by PPL for 38 years, and retired in 1986 at the age of 61. Philip had a great sense of humor and led a very full, active life; being well known as being a great friend to everyone he met. He loved to garden, play baseball, go camping and fishing, tying his own fly fishing flies, he was also an avid hunter. He used to train beagles to hunt, having many dogs all named Mitzie; he was a member of the Beagle Club. Philip was a member of the Jersey Shore BPOE and enjoyed dining at the Broadway Hotel in Jersey Shore. Philip was a fearless man and a family hero who loved his children and grandchildren very much; he will be greatly missed by all who loved him dearly.
Philip is survived by his loving wife, Marie, a son Matthew of Jersey Shore, 2 daughters, Sherry (Duane) Mantle of Rauchtown and Lynn Landon of Williamsport; six grandchildren, Jeremy, Stephen, Aaron, Jaime, Hannah, Garrett and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Philip and 10 brothers and sisters.
There will be a public viewing at Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore on Thursday, December 15, 2016 6 – 8 pm and Friday December 16, 10 am – 11 am. Philip's funeral service will be Friday, December 16, 2016, at 11 am at the funeral home with full military honors. David Kanski and Stephen Kanski will be officiating. Burial will be at Jersey Shore Cemetery at the families' convenience.
