Grant L.
Davidson
June 29, 1929 – May 6, 2026
Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd.
6:00 - 8:00 pm (Eastern time)
Grant Davidson, 96, of Jersey Shore, passed peacefully into the next chapter of his journey on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Nippenose Valley Village. Born at home in Limestone Township on June 29, 1929, he was the son of the late L. Lorraine and Fannie (Welshans) Davidson.
On July 22, 1950, Grant married the love of his life, Vivian (Keller) Davidson, and together they shared 51 years of marriage until her passing in 2001. He was the devoted father of Larry (Karen) Davidson and Dawn (Pete) Lupacchino, both of Jersey Shore; Dennis (Denise) Davidson of Avis; and Mark (Patty) Davidson of Montoursville. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Crawford, and his brothers, Paul and Dale Davidson.
Grant was the proud to be Pap to sixteen grandchildren, Shawn Davidson, Michele (Ashley) Edwards, Shane (Rachel) Heydrich, Amber (Jeremy) Chapman, Josh Lupacchino, Jay (Michele) Loomis, Brooke Loomis, Blake (Mayra) Crawford, Lindsey (Shane) Crawford, Corey (Clarissa) Davidson, Tara (Zach) Davidson, Brandon (Mikayla) Davidson, Cierra (Josh) Scott, Lauren (Huntter) Black, John (Nattalie) Aungst, and Austin Davidson, twenty‑three great‑grandchildren, and two great‑great‑grandchildren. He is also survived by an ex-wife and friend Maxine Davidson.
A U.S. Army veteran, Grant was also a member of the Labelle Vallee Masonic Lodge. He retired from Conrail in 1991 after 41 years of dedicated service.
Grant loved the outdoors—especially fishing and camping—and he and Vivian spent 19 years as campground hosts at Little Pine State Park, accumulating more than 18,000 volunteer hours and earning state Volunteer of the Year recognition in 1999.
He had a lifelong love of flying, beginning lessons at the age of 16. Though he was just one hour shy of completing his pilot’s license as a young man, he was blessed with the opportunity to return to the cockpit at age 82 to finish his training and finally earn his wings.
Grant was also an accomplished woodworker, crafting cribs, cradles, high chairs, rocking chairs, toy chests, swings, and countless other treasured pieces for his children, grandchildren, and friends.
If you were lucky enough to know Grant—through work, camping, family, friends, or his later years of making the breakfast rounds—visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 6–8 PM at Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore, PA. Final resting arrangements will be held at the convenience of the family.
