WILLIAMSPORT - Gary L. Heyd, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026, after an extended illness surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on October 18,1941 to the late Carl and Harriet Heyd.

Gary graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1958, a school that held a special place in his heart. He returned to those same hallways to become a devoted educator of science and math for 35 years. He helped shape the minds and lives of generations of students. He deeply believed in the power of education and found joy in the classroom.

Outside the classroom Gary was happiest in the warm summer open air and sunshine. Above all, he cherished his time with his 5 grandchildren, who brought him great pride and happiness. He also enjoyed having coffee with friends.

Gary is survived by his wife, Janice; his daughter, Stephanie; his son Mark; his five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

In honoring his wishes, a small private ceremony will be held at the convenience of the family celebrating his life.
