Gail T.
Mantle
Aug 4, 1957 — Oct 22, 2026
Lock Haven
Gail T. “Terry” (Watt) Mantle, age 69, of Lock Haven, passed away peacefully at home on October 21, 2026. Born on August 4, 1957, in Lock Haven she was the beloved daughter of Walter (Darlene) Watt and the late Geraldine (Spirito) Watt.
After graduating from Lock Haven High School in 1975, Terry and the love of her life — William “Bill” Mantle — moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where they enjoyed exploring the South West area together and would later marry there in 1976. Though they moved back to the Lock Haven area in 1977, the South West part of the United States always held a special place for them. In later years, they made many trips to that part of the country where they continued exploring and hiking together.
While holding numerous jobs over the years, Terry always had a calling for taking care of others. In 1996, she obtained her nursing degree and then dedicated many years of her life working as a nurse with Jersey Shore Hospital Geisinger. She loved nursing and through her work she touched many people’s lives. She was cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. When not at work, Terry had a great enthusiasm for the outdoors where she enjoyed hiking, metal detecting, gardening, and traveling. A member of the Castanea Township Recreation Committee as well as the Castanea Fire Company, Terry found great joy in giving back to her community.
For Terry, there was no greater way to spend time than by spending it with her husband, family, beloved dogs — Chase and Susie — and her numerous friends. Above all, Terry adored her grandchildren immensely, cherishing every moment spent in their company. Her warmth and love left an indelible mark on their hearts. Her faith in God’s love was her way of life, and could be witnessed through the compassion and love she reflected back to the world around her.
She was preceded in death by her mother Geraldine, one brother, and one sister.
Leaving behind a legacy of love, Terry is survived by her spouse of 50 years, Bill; her son, Billy (Jen) Mantle, and her daughter Maria (Heath) Stout; her cherished grandchildren, Will, Jack, Sawyer, Hannah, and Alex who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by her parents: Walter and Darlene Watt; her sisters and brother: Cindy (Chris) Watson, Karen (Rick) Houseknecht, Maria (Ken) Brown, and Wally (Sue) Watt. Terry had many nieces and nephews all of whom she loved tremendously.
In accordance with Terry’s wishes, a small service will be held at the convenience of the family. A memorial scholarship will be established in Terry’s honor to support a nursing student at Central Mountain High School. In lieu of flowers, scholarship contributions can be made through the funeral home or by check made payable to the Keystone Central Foundation, and mailed to P.O. Box 565, Lock Haven PA 17745. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, Jersey Shore, PA. Friends and family are invited to send condolences and share fond memories at www.rearickcarpenter.com.
Terry will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
