Elwood L. Myers, 92 of Jersey Shore, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Elwood was born August 3, 1924 in Jersey Shore; he was the son of Elmer and Ellen (Bloom) Myers.  He graduated high school in Albany, New York. Elwood married June D. (Krape) on June 1, 1947 they were married for 48 years before her passing on June 14, 1995.

Elwood was in the U.S. Army and served in World War II receiving many awards that included 5 Bronze Stars.  He was a plumber and worked for Piper Plumbing for 26 years, until he retired in 1986. He was a member of the Phelps Chapel Church.  Elwood was a member of the NRA and he loved to hunt and fish. He also had a passion for gardening.

Elwood leaves behind two daughters; Sherry (Ralph) Dershem, of Antes Fort and Cindy (John) Noltee of McElhattan; 2 granddaughters; Laurie Frantz and Shanna Berry; 7 great grandchildren and one brother Dwayne (Delores)

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 10 am with a public visitation beginning at 9 am at Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd., 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore, with Pastor Joseph H. Wells officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at the Jersey Shore Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Phelps Chapel Church, 68 Phelps Chapel Road, Jersey Shore.
