Elmer C. Smith, 86, of Linden, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 28, 2020.  He was born February 22, 1934, the son of the late Charles J. and Rosie C. (Hillyard) Smith of Linden.

Elmer graduated from Williamsport High School in 1951, and retired as a Production Supervisor after 30 years at Lonza, Inc.  While working his full time job he also operated the family farm for over 50 years.  For a number of years, he held the position of Woodward Township Constable. Elmer also sold insurance for Millville Insurance Co. for over 30 years.  He was a member of Pine Run United Methodist Church, a past master of the former Pine Run Grange, member of Masonic Lodge 232 of Jersey Shore, life member of the Woodward Township Volunteer Fire Company, and a life member of the National Rifle Association.  He enjoyed hunting around the home farm, and in Wyoming and Colorado.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Shirley J. Yoder and five children, Diane L. (Edwin) Allabough of Linden, Charles L. (Hope Ann) of Castanea, Debra A. (Harry) Bigelow of Linden, Ronald E. (Lynn) of Los Alamos, NM, and Donald E. (Kimberly) of Linden; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by four sisters, Mildred Ulmer, Marian Waltz, Ruth DeLong, and Dora Marshall.    Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 in the Pine Run United Methodist Church with Pastor Richard DeMarte officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Burial will be in Woodward Township Cemetery.  If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Pine Run United Methodist Church, 1719 Pine Run Road, Linden, PA 17744.
