Obituary

Donald D. Murray, a devoted family man and respected community member, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, in Montoursville at the age of 96. Born on February 9, 1930, to the late Ralph and Grace (Roller) Murray, in Williamsport, Donald lived a life marked by dedication, adventure, and love.

A proud veteran, Donald honorably served his country in the United States Army, where he was awarded multiple commendations. His commitment to service continued as he built a successful career as a self-employed excavation contractor, known for his hard work and integrity.

In his younger years, Donald channeled his adventurous spirit into stock car racing, where he was an avid driver. His passion for the great outdoors was evident in his annual trips to Colorado for elk hunting—a tradition he cherished dearly.

Donald was a township supervisor for Mifflin Township for many years and also a co-owner of the Murray/Cohick Sports Center in Salladasburg, where he made lasting contributions to the local community. Despite his numerous accomplishments, it was his family that brought him the greatest joy. He treasured time spent with his beloved grandchildren, often found in the garage sharing stories and laughter.

Preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Marc A. Campana, and his brothers, Dale and Dean Murray, Donald leaves behind a legacy of love and strength. He is survived by his devoted wife, Helen J. (Fillman) Murray; daughters Terrie (Anthony) Campana and Debra (Chris) Martin Sr.; grandchildren Ben (Laura) Campana, Juliette (Geraldo) Peña, Christopher Martin Jr., and Nathan (Sara) Martin; and nine cherished great-grandchildren.

A graveside service to honor Donald's life will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 11 AM at the Salladasburg Cemetery with full military honors by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, located at 1002 Allegheny St, Jersey Shore. Family and friends are invited to leave their condolences for the Murray family at www.rearickcarpenter.com.

In remembrance of Donald, let us celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, adventure, and a steadfast devotion to family and community.
