Obituary

Donald Leroy Hillyard, 86, of Salladasburg passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024 at his residence.  He was born in Salladasburg December 11, 1937 a son of Harold and Edith Decker Hillyard.  He was a graduate of Jersey Shore High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran.  He was married July 7, 1961 to the former Connie M. Burke who preceded him in death this past February.

Donald was a laborer his entire life retiring in the early 2000's from Anchor-Darling Valve Co. He was a life member of the Tiadaghton Forest Fire Fighters Association and the Larry's Creek Volunteer Fire Company now Citizens Hose Company. He was a Forest Fire Warden for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  He enjoyed his coffee club at Speedies & Dandy's in Salladasburg and was a member of the N.R.A and various bowling leagues.  Don's real passion was hunting & fishing.

His survivors include two sons:  Gene Hillyard (Patricia) and Eric Hillyard ( Janet) all of Salladasburg;  three daughters: Lori Stiger (Marc) of Montoursville, Merry White of Salladasburg & Holly Allen (Todd) of Linden; nine grandchildren & 10 great grandchildren;  one brother, Dale of Salladasburg and three sisters; Debbie Beck of Cogan Station, Diane Hillyard & Della Mae both of Williamsport.  Don was also predeceased by his siblings: Doyle, Danny, David, Dean, Deloris, Donna Kay, Doris and a grandson Hank Donald Hillyard.

In keeping with Don's wishes there will be no visitation and his life celebration will be held privately at his family's convenience.  His family suggests contributions be made to the Tiadaghton Forest Fire Fighters Association at P.O. Box 5091, South Williamsport, PA 17702.
