Obituary

WOOLRICH - Dean E. Hoffman, Sr., 96, passed away early Saturday morning February 8, 2025 at his residence.

He was born September 17, 1928 in Yorkana, PA a son of the Rev. Benjamin G. and Eva Imogene Miller Hoffman.  Dean was a Jersey Shore High School graduate and attended Albright University and was a post World War II U.S. Army Veteran.

He was employed 29 years with Piper Aircraft in Lock Haven as well as Rockwell International in Columbus Ohio and finally with Sweitzer Aircraft in Elmira, NY.

He was a member and past President of the Jersey Shore Rotary Club and was deeply involved in both Trinity United Methodist Church of Jersey Shore and Trinity Lutheran Church of Avis where he taught Sunday School classes, was youth advisor and sang in the choirs.  Early in his life he was an excellent athlete where he played softball in the old community and church leagues and later became an umpire.  He enjoyed bowling and after retirement took up golf which he loved.  Dean also loved animals.

His survivors include his wife the former Barbara F. Myers who he married June 30, 1990 and she survives.  one son Dean E. "Bud" Hoffman, Jr. (Karen) of McElhattan and one daughter Cathy Lynn Hoffman Yarbrough (William Pace) of Carrolton, GA.  Two step-sons: David Fisher (Faith) of Carlisle and Michael Fisher of Jersey Shore along with one step-daughter Karen Stover (Brian Scott) of Avis.  Dean is further survived by one grand daughter Becky and two great grandchildren R.J. and Rease.  There are eight step grandchildren Michelle, Stephanie, Heather, Matthew, Alissa, Peter, Sara and John along with eleven step great grandchildren Clayton, Colton, Conner, Elizabeth, Gavin, Griffin, Edison, Tanner, Westin, Willow and Theodore.  Dean was the last surviving child of the seven children of Rev. Benjamin and Eva Hoffman.

In keeping with Dean's wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral.  Private committal services will be held at a later date at his family's convenience where he will be laid to rest next to his first wife Connie in Jersey Shore Cemetery.  His family suggests contributions be made to the Clinton County S.P.C.A., 33 Mill Hill Rd., Lock Haven, PA 17745 or the charity of your choice.
