"Chick" Horn
February 3, 1934 – December 1, 2023
Charles F. Horn (Chick), 89, of Salladasburg, passed away December 1, 2023 at Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville. He was born in Salladasburg on February 3, 1934 to the late Charles F. and Mary E. (Davis) Horn.
Charles graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1953. On May 14, 1955, he married his wife Betty Jane; they were married for 48 years until her passing on May 1, 2003.
Charles lived in Bristol, NY for 17 years, where he worked in residential construction and later as an auto and diesel mechanic. He returned to the Salladasburg area in 1971 and has resided for 52 years in the home he and his wife built. During that time, he restored many homes after the 1971 flood devastated the Jersey Shore area. Charles worked at Frito Lay as a lead diesel mechanic until he retired in 1992. He also ran his own auto repair business. He attended Larryville United Methodist Church.
Charles is survived by three daughters, Julie L. (Daniel) Mallam of Bridgeville, DE; Kim M. (Tom) Marable of Hume, VA; and Dustie C. F. Horn of Annapolis, MD; a son, Charles F. Horn of Manchester, CT; three grandsons, Charles F. Horn, Jesse and David Flury; three great granddaughters, Reagan, Charlotte and Willow Flury; and a sister, Nancy Horn Fillman of Salladasburg.
In addition to his parents and wife, Charles is preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Ellery and John Horn; and a sister, Nina Horn Viedeffer.
Charles liked watching old western movies. His hobbies were fixing cars, camping, traveling, fishing, wine making, gold panning and gem hunting. In his retirement years, Charles traveled with his wife back and forth across the United States, including Alaska and Canada.
Graveside services will be private at the convenience of the family.
