Obituary

Beulah Jane (McCracken) Young, 91, of Avis, PA, was called to heaven on May 17, 2026. Born to Raymond and Dorothy McCracken in Lock Haven, PA on January 3, 1935, Beulah was the youngest of ten siblings. She graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1952. On May 20, 1953, she married Charles S. Young, Sr of Jersey Shore, PA in Winchester, VA. Together they shared 52 years of marriage until his passing in November of 2005.

Beulah worked at several manufacturing companies, including Glamorize, Piper Aviation, and Bobbi Brooks. In her early years, she affectionately earned the nickname “Boots”. She was known for her spunky personality, witty sense of humor, and steadfast nature. She loved keeping a beautifully maintained home and flower gardens, dressing up to attend social club events, and talking on the phone, especially with her niece, Betty Jean.

Beulah enjoyed hosting family and friends during the holidays. She was an exceptional dancer and an extremely talented artist. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and if you asked her, she was Elvis’s #1 fan, accumulating an impressive collection of his music and memorabilia over the years.

Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant children - Jayne and Jamey, siblings, in-laws - John and Mildred Young, son-in-law - John Asper, daughter-in-law – Jennifer Young, and her loving companion Vern.

She is survived by her children, Vicki Asper of Avis, Charles (Heather) Young, Jr. of Williamsport, Joni (Timothy) Sawyer of Cogan Station, and Rick Young of Williamsport, her grandchildren, Candace (Dean) Confer of Lock Haven, Shannon (William) Schaefer of Jersey Shore, Matthew (Kayla) Young of Lancaster, Zakk (Kaitlyn) Bowman of Williamsport, Cory Young of New York, Caleb (Lexi) Young of Jersey Shore, Evan Young of Williamsport, as well as seven great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as a sister-in-law, Carol Pounds of Florida.

A private service will be held for the family at Jersey Shore Cemetery, where Beulah will be laid to rest next to her late husband. Memorial contributions can be made in Beulah’s honor to any organization of your choosing.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the staff at Nippenose Valley Village and UPMC Hospice for their kindness, compassion, and care during Beulah’s stay.
