LOCK HAVEN - Betty Lane (Donahay) Brooks, 91, died on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Suqueview Home, Lock Haven.
She was married on November 2, 1943 to the late Charles L. Brooks, Sr. who had died on March 20, 2009. They celebrated 65 years as husband and wife.
Betty was born in Lock Haven on October 11, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Charles C. and Cora (Strouse) Donahay. She worked at Weldon's for 17 years. Betty was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, then had attended the Grace Lutheran Church. In the church, she belonged to the women's society. She was a member of the Billtown Clown group and had enjoyed crocheting. She had taken care of her grandson Charles, III after his surgery when he was a child.
Betty is survived by one son; Charles L. Brooks, Jr. of Williamsport, three grandchildren; Charles L. Brooks, III of Linden, Philip L. Brooks and Izek L. Brooks, both of Williamsport, two great-grandchildren; Abigale Brooks and Nevaeh Brooks, one brother; Charles C. Donahay of Lock Haven, one brother-in-law; William Brooks of Williamsport and her pet cockatoo; Fred. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter; Carol Brooks and three sisters; Margaret Shields, Elaine Weaver and Mary Catherine Nearhood.
There will be a public viewing 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd., 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore where the funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Jersey Shore Cemetery.
