Wanda M. (Gohl) Fox

Wanda M. (Gohl) Fox, 97, of Jersey Shore, passed away at the Gatehouse, Thurs., Oct. 18, 2018. Wanda was born in Mifflin Twp. on August 30, 1921, the daughter of the late Melvin and Alice (Fessler) Gohl. 

Wanda lived her entire life within the Jersey Shore area, graduating from the Jersey Shore Senior High and marrying the love of her life, Robert “Bob” E. Fox on June 27, 1942. They shared 65 years of marriage before Bob passed away April 25, 2008.

Earlier in her life she was employed as a clerk at Dershem’s Pharmacy and well known for many years as being the organist for Trinity United Methodist Church and also playing the organ for many weddings held within the church. She served on several church committees.  She was a board member of the Jersey Shore Summer Recreation Program and served on the Board of Elections.  Wanda enjoyed volunteering at the New Love Center and was also involved in MOP’s.  She loved music and Wanda was always very active in the church and within the Jersey Shore Community; she served in various capacities throughout.

Wanda is survived by a son, David Fox, of Oak Island, NC two daughters, Alice Fox, of Pine Creek Twp. and Kathy (Fox) Carr of Dauphin; three grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and a sister Freda Yorke, of Williamsport.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Watts.

Tribute of Life services for Wanda will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1407 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore.  Visitation will be Sunday, Oct 21, 2018 from 6 pm - 8 pm at Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore and again Monday 10 am – 11 am at the church; her funeral service will be held at 11 am, the Rev. Brian Moyer will be officiating.  Burial will be at the Jersey Shore Cemetery.
