Richard L. “Rick” Moyer, 71, of Jersey Shore passed away Monday, Nov. 27, 2017 at UPMC Susquehanna Hospital surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Jersey Shore, July 16, 1946 the son of Chester F. and Glee A. (Seymour) Moyer.

Rick was a 1966 graduate of Jersey Shore Senior High School.  He married the former Sandra “Sandy” J. Brown Sept. 10, 1966, sharing 51 years of marriage. Sandy passed away Sept. 13, 2017. He was a member of the US Army Reserves and early in his life he began employment at Alcan Cable Co., testing cells and retired from there as a Supervisor in the Lab.  After retirement he became a self employed painter.

Rick was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Jersey Shore and helped in their kitchen as a cook.  He was a member of LaBelle Vallee Masonic Lodge #232 Jersey Shore. He was a former Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop #115 and also coached Pop Warner Football and Little League Baseball.  Rick enjoyed NASCAR, Penn State, The Dallas Cowboys and loved spending time with his family and granddaughters.

Rick’s survivors include his mother, Glee, of Las Vegas, NV, two sons, Richard E. “Ricky” Moyer and Michael A. (Wendy) Moyer, all of Jersey Shore; Two Granddaughters , Malin and Kallie and a sister, Ola Santoni of Las Vegas, NV, a brother Steven Moyer (Susan) of Jersey Shore.

Rick was predeceased by his father, Chester, who passed away Sept. 4, 1967

Rick’s Tribute of Life will begin with a visitation, Sunday Dec. 3, 2017, 6-8 pm at Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore. His funeral service will be 10 am, Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, with a 1 hour visitation prior to the service at 9 am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1407 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore. Pastor Josh Beben and Pastor Wanda Minnich will be officiating.  Burial will follow in Jersey Shore Cemetery with the Jersey Shore Honor Guard presenting military honors.
