Kenneth E. Shemory, 96, 0f Rauchtown passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at his residence. He was born near Mifflinburg February 18, 1922, one of 12 children of Edgar Erb and Celesta Wagner Shemory. He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran and was married in 1950 to the former Dorothy Jean Miller who passed on June 1, 1982.
Ken was employed by the Jersey Shore Steel Co for over 38 years. He was a member and Trustee of the Jersey Shore Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed reading poetry, playing cards and was fondly known as the “Dice King”. He was an avid fisherman.
His survivors include his daughter Sandy Vought (Daniel) of Rauchtown, 2 grand children Danielle George (Bob) and Kenneth Vought (Brooke Burns); 4 great grand children: Kiera and Caleb George and Mariah and Makenna Vought along with 3 step great grand children Samantha, Bobby Jr. and Piper George. Ken is also survived by one brother Donald Shemory of Waterville and a sister Shirley Keller of Woolrich. He was predeceased by siblings Margaret Rummings, Catherine Bressler, Robert Shemory, Ella Sheela, Lorene Harris, Orvis Shemory, Ralph Shemory and his twin Nelson Shemory.
Ken’s Tribute of Life service will be held at 11AM Saturday, March24, 2018 at the Jersey Shore Presbyterian Church 235 S. Main St., Jersey Shore, PA 17740 with his Pastor Rev. Charles Winkelman officiating. Burial will follow in Jersey Shore Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard. Friends and relatives may call at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, PA Friday evening from 6-8PM and again at the Church Saturday from 10-11AM.
