Ivan Dodd Obituary

Ivan L. Dodd, 92, of Jersey Shore, passed away, Wednesday, May 31 at Rose View Center, Williamsport. He was born Jan. 5, 1926 in State College, the son of the late Wilbur and Winifred (Henry) Dodd.

Ivan graduated from State College High School and shortly after enlisted in the US Army Air Corps in September of 1943.  He served in the European Theater Operations.  His plane was damaged on his 5th mission, and he was forced to bail out which resulted in his capture, becoming a MIA POW being held by German soldiers for six months until he was liberated by allied forces. After returning from war he married Margaret (Reed) Dodd, February 20, 1947 and they shared 57 years of marriage before her passing September 10, 2004.

Ivan was a member of the Middleburg Masonic Lodge 619, VFW and American Legion.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman his entire life and enjoyed shooting skeet and hunting waterfowl. Ivan had a very competitive personality when it came to bowling, playing darts and target shooting.  He retired after 27 years of service from the PA Game Commission, where he worked as a Game Protector, a Land Manager and District Supervisor.

Ivan is survived by a son, Bradley Dodd (Carol) of Jersey Shore; two daughters, Leanne Weber (Tim) of Douglas, WY, and Pamela Brown (Bill Enow), of Salem, NJ; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one brother, Wilbur (Satch) Dodd, and two sisters Beverly Wiker and Barbara Meckley.
