George E. Myers, 92, of Jersey Shore, passed away, Monday, July 9, 2018 at The Gatehouse. He was the son of the late William H. and Esther (Hughes) Myers born Nov. 11, 1925.
George was a graduate of the Jersey Shore High School; soon after graduation he joined the US Army in 1944, serving in WWII and was stationed in Chabua, India. Following his military tour, he married his sweetheart, Margaret C. “Peggy” (Allen) on Jan. 17, 1947. They shared 62 years of marriage until her passing on October 31, 2009.
George was an Instrument Technician for many years, employed by Piper Aircraft, Lock Haven. He was a member of the Wright Street Church of Christ in Flemington. George also delivered Meals On Wheels for years in the local area. George was a member of Citizen’s Hose Ambulance Service and enjoyed competitive shooting with both handguns and rifle with steel silhouettes.
George is survived by a son, William E. Myers (Diane) of Loganton, a daughter, Sandra L. “Sandy” McHenry of McElhattan, also six grandchildren and several great grandchildren
In addition to his parents and wife, George was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Mutchler and Alice Young
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore.
