Gary L. Herman, 71, of Jersey Shore passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 at the Gatehouse in Williamsport, PA

He was born April 9, 1946 in Jersey Shore a son of Lester and Lillian McCloskey Herman.  Gary was a U.S. Army Veteran of Viet Nam.  He married the former Delores (Dolly) Fullmer on April 30, 1970 and she survives.  He was employed by Bethlehem Steel and Williamsport Wire Rope for over 34 years.  He was a member of the George Pepperman American Legion Post #36 Jersey Shore and a life member of the Billy O. Brandt VFW Post 5859 of Jersey Shore.  He enjoyed camping and woodworking but was best known for his guidance and involvement with helping and coaching kids in Little League and Wrestling.  He loved being with them and especially his grandchildren and great granddaughter.

Gary’s survivors include his wife of 47 years Dolly along with 2 sons – Michael Herman (Debbie) of Avis and David “Crock” Herman (Gretchen) of Jersey Shore; 4 grand children Curtis and Rachelle Herman, Zakory, Kelob and Meghan Herman and one great granddaughter Braelynn Council – one sister Patricia Rummings of Jersey Shore and 3 brothers, Chester of Marrietta, GA, Ronald of Avis and Paul of Myrtle Beach, SC.

Gary’s Life Tribute will be held Thursday evening February 1, 2018 at 8pm from the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, PA. with Pastor Jeff Pennycoff presiding.  Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home Thursday from 6 – 8pm.  Burial will in Rest Haven Memorial Park with the day and time to be announced.  His family suggests contributions be made to either the American Legion Post #36, 320 Seminary St., Jersey Shore, PA 17740 or the Susquehanna Hospice at the Gatehouse 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
