Danny L. Hillyard, Sr.

Danny L. Hillyard, Sr., 66, of Salladasburg, passed away Wed. Oct. 10, 2018 at UPMC Susquehanna with his family by his side.  Danny was born Sept. 11, 1952 in Jersey Shore, the son of Harold and Edith (Decker) Hillyard.

Danny graduated from Jersey Shore Area Senior High School.  He worked as a foreman with the Jersey Shore Water Authority for many years.  Danny had many interests, including playing guitar, wood working, hunting, canoeing and liked spending time outdoors.  He very much enjoyed getting together with his family and attending his grandkid’s sporting events.  Danny was a member of the Fire Company in Salladasburg; where he was a firefighter for many years.

Danny is survived by his companion, Vicki Miller; one son, Danny L. Hillyard, Jr. (Farra) of Lewisburg, two daughters, Danielle Willits (Jason) of Jersey Shore, Denise Wheary (Eric) of Jersey Shore; seven grandchildren, Sophie and Ace Willits, Peyton, Branden and Paige Wheary, and Derek and Aundrea Hillyard. He is also survived by three brothers, Donald, Dale and Doyle, three sisters Debbie Beck, Della Mae Carothers, Dian Hillyard and many Nieces and Nephews.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dean and David and three sisters Doris, Delores, Donna Kay.

A Tribute of Life service will be held privately for the family
