James E. Moore

James E. Moore, 75, of Avis, passed away Tuesday evening, May 15, 2018.  James was born in Lock Haven, June 13, 1942, the son of the late LeRoy and Leora (Chase) Moore. 

James was a 1961 graduate of Lock Haven High School; he met the love of his life, Jane R. (Graff) Moore, dating for only 6 months they were married June 29, 1962. James and Jane celebrated over 52 years of marriage until Jane passed away Feb. 24, 2015.

James was a Supervisor for Pine Creek Township for many years.  He was a member of the LaBelle Vallee Lodge 232, Jersey Shore.  James liked hunting, but his passion in life was fishing and spending time with his family.  A favorite hobby of his was tying his own flies for fly fishing.

James is survived by his son, Justin E. Moore, of Avis, his daughter, Jennifer L. Sorgen (Dennis, Jr.) of Lock Haven; his grandchildren, Corey Moore, Avis, Matthew and Mason Sorgen, both of Lock Haven.  He is also survived by two brothers, Gregory Moore (Deb) of Bloomsburg, Richard Moore (Beth) of Woolrich; and two sisters, Donna Baldinger of Florida, Sherry Karichner (Jack) of Williamsport.

In addition to his parents and wife, James was preceded in death by his son, James G. Moore, two brothers Leroy Moore and Tom Moore.

A Tributes of Life Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 10 am at Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore, with Pastor Carl Runser officiating.  There will be a visitation from 9 - 10 am prior to the service.  Burial will follow at the Jersey Shore Cemetery.
